Come on: you can't be serious!

ISN’T HALF-PENSION A THING OF THE PAST?

Not at the Waldhaus. We take it very seriously, convinced as we are that the festive and relaxed ritual of dining “together, if separately” in our elegant, high-ceilinged restaurants is an essential part of experiencing this lively old place.

In other words: if you just need a roof over your head, any good hotel will do; but that’s not really the point of a hotel like ours.

And if you’re worried (or hopeful) that our dinners are rigidly solemn and rooted in the past, a look at our imaginative menus and at Walter Nana and Giuseppe Santoro, our nimble and cheerful Maîtres d'Hôtel and their crew will quickly reassure (or upset) you. Remember, too, that families with children are one of our mainstays.

Variety is the spice of life! Chef Kurt Röösli and his team devote much time and care to our varied and sophisticated daily menus which range from traditional to modern, from simple to elaborate, and always include vegetarian choices. Candle-lit gala dinners with live music, dinners with a special theme, and buffets or other special evenings add to the diversity. All of this is yours for just CHF 50 more per day than “room and breakfast” (CHF 25 for children younger than 14) if you decide on half-pension for the length of your stay. If you want to skip dinner one evening, you will receive a credit of CHF 30 (children: CHF 15) if you let the cashier know before 5 p.m. If you want to try our specialties in the Arvenstube restaurant, the half-pension credit is CHF 50 (children CHF 25).

Would you still rather have just “room and breakfast” throughout? No problem! This cuts CHF 50 per person from your daily room rate and doesn’t prevent you from eating here whenever you want; but note that dinners will then be charged at à la carte prices.
