Distance makes the heart grow fonder.

“Sils i. E.” (Sils im Engadin, called “Segl” in Romansh) is 7 miles/ 10 km southwest of St. Moritz in the Swiss canton of Graubünden. Do not be led astray by the village of
“Sils i. D.” in a different part of Graubünden, nor by
“St Maurice” in western Switzerland.

Our nearest train station is St. Moritz¹. Our driver will be happy to meet you there, free of charge, if you can tell us in advance your arrival time.

¹There is a Waldhaus hotel (‘house in the woods’) in St. Moritz as well. It's a good and lively place, but it's not ours, and there is no connection; so don't be confused!

Arriving
FROM THE NORTH AND WEST

By train: hourly trains from Zurich (and Zurich airport) to St. Moritz by way of Chur. Travel time: 4 hours. Details: www.rail.ch

By car: take freeway from Zurich (or Lake Constance area) past CHUR and follow the signs for St. Moritz and the Julier Pass. After the pass, do not turn left (St. Moritz), but right (“Maloja”). The turnoff for Sils-Maria comes before Maloja. Driving time from Zurich: approx. 3 hours.

Alternate route to avoid the pass: at Landquart just before Chur, turn left to KLOSTERS and the VEREINA tunnel (car shuttle by train). After the tunnel, it’s 55 km/ 35 mi. past St. Moritz to Sils. Driving time from Zurich: approx. 3 1/2 hours.

Arriving
FROM THE EAST

By train: Train links between Austria or Bavaria and the St. Moritz area are somewhat circuitous. Best to go by way of the Arlberg Line and Chur. Details: www.rail.ch.
